Emerald Ball Pro-Am American Smooth Scholarship
By Sue Puttock
This was an excellent event this year, and started out with 21 very good couples. The final six were:
6th place: Elizabeth Brierly with Teacher Jonathan Roberts - A good overall performance, but Elizabeth's shoulders tend to become very tense.
5th place: Lynn Santoski with Teacher Eddie Stutts: - Consistent performance on this occasion, Tango was the best dance.
4th place: Sheila Peach with Teacher Richard Croteau - Very attractive and talented lady, however, the lowering action is too abrupt in swing dances.
3rd place: Carrie Harris with Teacher Forrest Vance - always beautifully attired. Sometimes Carrie's Leg Speed is too fast, this eliminates the freedom of movement at times.
2nd place: Leah Turner with Teacher Jim Maranto - Very good movement , and considerable improvement since the last time l saw Leah dance, but could use a brush-up on footwork.
1st place: Nancy Senner with Teacher Eddie Ares - Always presents herself impeccably well - l would like to see a softer movement in the swing dances from Nancy.
Overall, a very competitive event, it was so good to see a very high standard of dancing in this Pro-Am division.
